The story

The Crypto and Digital Assets Group, composed of UK MPs and members of the House of the Lords and backed by digital asset trade association CryptoUK aims to influence any new legislation around crypto supports innovation.

SNP MP Lisa Cameron will chair the group and pledges to help tackle economic crime and consumer protection. “We are at a crucial time for the sector as global policymakers are also now reviewing their approach to crypto and how it should be regulated,” Cameron told the Financial Times.

The formation of the group is down to the efforts by CryptoUK to rally lawmakers behind the benefits of digital assets to the UK economy. The trade association — which represents companies such as and eToro — will serve as the parliamentary group’s secretariat.
