New range of Samsung TVs enables you to preview, buy and display NFTs
What
Samsung’s new range of MicroLed, Neo QLED and The Frame TVs will enable owners to browse, buy and display non-fungible tokens (NFTs)
Why
The electronics giant revealed its new range of NFT-compatible TVs at a Las Vegas tech fair, saying that the increasing demand for NFTs called for a solution in the “fragmented display and shopping landscape”
What next
Samsung is the latest among multinational corporations to enter the NFT and metaverse spaces, following giants like Nike and Adidas. The continued interest by corporations is on the back of massive unprecedented growth of the NFT sector in 2021
The story
The new range of Samsung TVs will let NFT buyers and creators preview an NFT before purchasing it by displaying the history and blockchain metadata of the art in question.
A smart calibration feature will automatically adjust display settings to the creator’s preset values for optimal display performance of purchased NFTs.
“In 2022, Samsung is introducing the world’s first TV screen-based NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator, a groundbreaking platform that lets you browse, purchase, and display your favorite art — all in one place,” the company says in a press release.
With this move, Samsung is the first TV manufacturer to enter the space.
