Get to know Boris
Below is a Certified Luno Educator, who is trained to conduct basic cryptocurrency education classes and social events.
Neither Luno nor any Certified Luno Educators will ever give financial or trading advice. They will never offer to trade or invest on your behalf, nor are they authorised to. Educators will also never ask for your password, 2FA codes or one-time pin. Please don’t share these with anyone at all – even if they say they work at or with Luno.
The Educator’s official social channels are listed below. Please make sure to check the address is correct before you engage with them, as scammers will create fake profiles that look very similar and may only have 1 number or letter changed.
If you sense something suspicious is going on, please end all communication and contact us regarding your concerns. Please report it to us by submitting screenshots of the incident here.
Tell us about yourself
Hi there! I’m Boris, a legal “drug dealer” (aka Pharmacist) in Malaysia. Aside from my profession, I enjoy learning about different financial assets and good coffee sessions with people.
Describe what you do as a Luno Educator in one sentence
An easier and interactive way of learning crypto.
Why did you choose to become a Luno Educator?
Financial literacy, let alone crypto literacy, is very low in Malaysia. With that, my aim during the tenure is to bridge the financial & cryptocurrency literacy gap to all fellow Malaysians using this platform provided.
How would you define financial literacy?
Skills in managing personal finances effectively for lifetime financial security.
Why should others care about financial literacy?
Let’s be real, money if used properly is a good instrument to allow one to be flexible in life, relatively less stress and be able to experience life differently. So, is this what you long for?
How did you develop your own financial literacy?
As a person coming from a typical Asian-Chinese family, we’re been taught to study hard to score good grades in order to get a high paying job and live happily ever after. However, things like understanding of tax, different investment vehicles are not taught in our culture and formal education system.
I develop my knowledge in managing money via different channels such as e-learning from various digital platforms (Youtube, podcasts, websites etc), attending financial courses and mingling with experienced people. To date I’m still honing financial skills as financial literacy is a lifelong journey.
What advice do you have for people at the beginning of their crypto journey?
As with any new investment, always fully understand what are the underlying risks that you might be exposed to and the potential rewards before blindly jumping into it. Invest responsibly so you can sleep well at night.
What would you say to somebody who is not sure whether to invest into Bitcoin or not?
When you are not sure, start slow by learning the basics of cryptocurrency. Join my classes to kick start your journey!
